In the modern age of globalization, St. Kitts & Nevis has embraced the interconnected world by leveraging its well-established Citizenship by Investment Program. This strategic approach has enabled the nation to attract substantial foreign direct investment, catalyzing economic growth.

Originating in 1984 through the Citizenship Act S.3.5, a mere year after gaining independence, the St. Kitts & Nevis Citizenship by Investment Program holds the distinction of being the world’s oldest and most esteemed investor immigration initiative. Functionally, this program empowers the Government to confer citizenship upon eligible candidates, who, in return, make substantial contributions to bolster the nation’s economy, societal fabric, cultural vitality, and other key national interests.

Interested Applicants:

The program is designed to attract High Net Worth individuals who are seeking:

        1. Security of a second citizenship and passport in a democratic society where dual citizenship is allowed;
        2. An alternative investment and tax and estate planning options;
        3. A passport that has visa free travel to over 120 countries; and
        4. To relocate to a tropical climate to build a life now or at retirement.

The benefits to the investor immigration program are:

        1. Being a citizen of a nation that allows Dual citizenship;
        2. No tax on personal income;
        3. No withholding tax applied to companies conducting a business activity and transactions solely with non-resident entities;
        4. No worth, gift, inheritance tax or estate duties;
        5. Privacy as an applicant.

The main investment vehicles for persons interested in making foreign investment under the Citizenship by Investment program are:

  1. Developer’s Real Estate Option: which permits a foreign investor to purchase and hold real estate of a minimum value of US$400,000 with a mandatory hold period of seven years. All property purchase will be subject to payment of registration and other title transfer fees.

  2. Sustainable Island State Contribution: The Sustainable Island State Contribution is the investment channel that allows an applicant to make a one-time direct contribution into a government held fund, on approval. This option allows the successful applicant to directly contribute a minimum of US$250,000 to the economic growth and sustainable future of St. Kitts and Nevis.

  3. Private Home Sales: The Private Home Sales allows for an investor to purchase an approved home in any part of St. Kitts and Nevis. An investor can purchase and hold a condominium unit of a minimum value of US$400,000; or a single family dwelling for the sum of US$800,000 with a mandatory hold period of seven years. All property purchase will be subject to payment of registration and other title transfer fees.

  4. Public Benefit Option: The Public Benefit Option allows for any person or entity who wishes to develop an industry; finance real estate construction on State Lands or bring some substantial benefit to the jurisdiction, the opportunity to qualify as an Approved Public Benefactor. Each unit sold by the Public Benefactor shall be at a minimum of US$250,000 which qualifies as an economic citizenship investment.

The Process

The citizenship application form is divided into several parts requiring detailed information from the main applicant and all other dependents. It must be filled out honestly and accurately prior to its submission to the Citizenship Unit. We expertly assist our clients in the navigation of data collection and forms information to satisfy all application requirements. We pride ourselves in submitting clean and information accurate applications on behalf of our clients to the Citizenship Unit.

Within 4 months of the submission of your application, the Citizenship Unit shall notify us on behalf of the main applicant whether the application has been:

(a) approved in principle;

(b) denied; or

(c) delayed for cause and still being processed.

On an application notification of Approval in Principle, the main applicant shall be required to either pay the full contribution into the Sustainable Island State Contribution designated escrow account OR close the property transaction before the grant of citizenship can occur. The applicant is then granted a Certificate of Citizenship. This is followed by an application to the Passport office for the issuance of a St. Kitts & Nevis passport.

We are happy to provide a specified breakdown of the process and fees involved for each applicant according to their particular family dynamic.
